“How do I know if I need a night guard?”

Grinding occurs when you are in a deep sleep making you unaware of what you are doing. Often times its the spouse or significant other who alerts us to what is happening.

Did you know that when you are sleeping your jaw should be in a relaxed state where your teeth are not touching? While at rest our bite should be slightly open allowing space between your upper and lower jaw. If you wake up and your teeth are touching this is a sign that you are clenching at night.

Other signs that you may require a night time appliance are: jaw pain or tenderness, and frequent chipping and wearing down of your teeth.

If you have any of these signs or symptoms, contact us for a night guard consultation.
